Minutes of TMGC AGM held on 28 September 2024

Minutes of the Annual General Meeting of the Tamborine Mountain Golf Club, September 28, 2024.

 

The 2024 Annual General Meeting of the Tamborine Mountain Golf Club was held at the Clubhouse, between the morning and afternoon competition fields. The meeting was declared open by the President, Gerry Moloney, in the Chair, at 12 noon.

 

Attendance. The meeting was attended by 41 members who all signed the attendance sheets. The President declared that a quorum of members was present.

 

Apologies. Apologies were received from Peter Rayman, Di Lilley, Terry Burke, Paul Smith, Larry Ashwin, Tony Tane, Peter MacDonald and Simon Briggs.

 

Presentation of Annual Reports. The President’s Report and the Captain’s Report had been made available to members before the meeting and were taken as read.

 

President’s Report: Moved Gerry Moloney, seconded Stephen Berry, carried by show of hands.

 

Captain’s Report: The President noted that there was an error in the report and that Mitch Revie had won the King of the Mountain Event. With this amendment, the Captain’s Report was moved by Gerry Moloney (on behalf of the Captain Simon Briggs), seconded by Todd Blocksidge, and carried by show of hands.

 

Treasurer’s Report. The Treasurer Ross Barnes moved that the financial report and the auditor’s report both be approved. In moving the report, Ross indicated that at least $60000 had been spent on the Clubhouse over the last financial year and that a new irrigation system was being installed. He also noted that there had been 77 new members welcomed to the Club in the financial year. The reports were seconded by Tony Cole and carried by a show of hands.

 

Appointment of Auditor for 2024-25 financial year.  The Treasurer Ross Barnes moved that Eagle Taxation be appointed, seconded by Tony Cole. The motion was carried by a show of hands.

 

Details of any remuneration paid to members of the management committee or any of their relatives or any senior employees of the Club. 

The President indicated that no remuneration or other benefits had been paid to any person covered by this requirement.

 

Election of Management Committee Members.

 

The Notice of Meeting stated that there were vacancies on the Committee (commencing at the AGM) for the President and Vice-President and for one Committee member, with the resignation of John de Jersey as an elected member, and called for nominations. Only one nomination was received for each of the three positions, as follows, and the signed nomination forms were displayed on the Clubhouse noticeboard.

 

For President: Gerry Moloney, moved by John de Jersey, seconded by Katy Hewitt. For this motion, the Secretary took the Chair. Gerry’s appointment was carried by a show of hands, none against.

 

For Vice President: Kevin Arnold, moved by Gerry Moloney, seconded by John de Jersey, carried by a show of hand, none against.

 

For Committee Member: Ross Hodgson, moved by Gerry Moloney, seconded by John de Jersey, carried by a show of hands, none against.

 

Appointment of Appeals Committee Chairperson

 

The Chair called for nominations from the floor for the position of Appeals Committee Chairperson. Carl Pierce nominated John Youngman, seconded by Stephen Berry. John accepted nomination. There being no further nominations, the appointment of John Youngman was put to the vote and carried, none against.

 

Election of Life Members

 

The Management Committee had received two nominations for life membership, as follows:

Kevin Arnold, moved Leon Radunz, seconded Bruce Bartle

Bruce Bartle, moved Leon Radunz, seconded Gerry Moloney.

 

The Management Committee had enthusiastically endorsed both nominations., and the nomination forms were displayed on the noticeboard. Leon spoke briefly in support of the nominations. The election of a life member requires a special resolution, requiring a 75% majority to be carried. The nominations of Kevin and Bruce were put to the meeting, in order, for a show of hands. More than 75% of members present supported each nominee, with none against. The President congratulated Kevin and Bruce on their appointments and thanked them again for the great service they had given to the Club over many years.

 

Conclusion. There being no further business, the Chair closed the meeting at 12.15 pm. Before this happened, Stephen Berry moved a vote of thanks to the President and other members of the Management Committee and this was carried by acclamation.
